Fatal shooting on a bus in Everett

EVERETT, WA – Major Crimes detectives investigate a fatal shooting during an altercation on a bus in Everett, suspect in custody.

At about 8:10 p.m. today, Officers were dispatched to reports of gunshots having been fired on a bus in the 7700 Block of Evergreen way. Arriving officers located one male with gunshot injuries. A second male on scene, who was armed, surrendered to officers upon their arrival and was taken into custody. Officers on scene applied life saving efforts to the injured male but they did not survive.

Major Crimes detectives responded to the location. After speaking with the detained male and witnesses detectives determined that an altercation occurred between the two males on the bus while traveling Southbound on Evergreen. As the altercation escalated One male then used a firearm to fatally shoot the second male he had been arguing with. The bus immediately stopped and 911 was called. No one else was injured on the bus and the suspect immediately surrendered to police arrived and is in custody. The cause of the altercation is still being investigated.

The male in custody is in his 20’s while the deceased is in his 30’s.

Southbound Traffic on Evergreen was shut down during the investigation and reopened at approximately 2150 hours.
