Three people displaced after house fire

At 3:37 pm firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the roof of a single family residence at the 1800 block of 145th Ave SE. While crews were enroute to the home, they reported seeing a dark smoke column.

The homeowner arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and called 911. The fire rapidly progressed and flames were seen coming from the upstairs windows and quickly spread to the rest of the home.

When firefighters arrived on scene they promptly pulled the hose line for a quick attack, but were met with challenges of having enough water to control the fire. Incident command had crews fight the fire from the exterior of the home due to extreme fire conditions and water supply. The residence was located approximately 800 feet off the main roadway, with the nearest hydrant 2 blocks away from the driveway. Crews utilized multiple water tenders to bring adequate water to the scene to fight the blaze.

No injuries were reported but two cats are still missing. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating how the fire started. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced family of three.

Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 7, Snohomish Fire District 4, Granite Falls Fire District 17, and Snohomish County Fire District 19 worked to extinguish the fire.
