Firefighters battle early morning fire

[Monroe, WA] – Firefighters were dispatched at 12:56 a.m. to a commercial structure fire when a passerby called 911 and reported flames through the roof of a condemned warehouse at the intersection of Fryelands boulevard and SR 2.

Firefighters battled the blaze from the exterior of the building and were able to contain the fire to the one commercial structure. It took crews almost two hours to extinguish the flames on the collapsing building. Fire crews will stay on scene until morning checking for hot spots.

Fryelands boulevard is closed from SR 2 and Tye Street while firefighters are on scene.

Fire crews from Lake Stevens Fire, Everett Fire, and Snohomish Fire District 4 assisted with the fire. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

Burlington Northern Railroad was advised of the fire due to the proximity of the fire to the railroad tracks.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
