Fatal Collision in Everett

Detectives with the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a fatal one-vehicle collision in Everett.

At about 9:14 a.m. this morning, a vehicle traveling eastbound on 112th Street SE passing through the intersection of Evergreen Way lost control and struck a tree and power pole. Witnesses indicated the vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed. The collision caused the vehicle to break into two pieces.

Community members who were first on scene found a female toddler-aged child in the back seat of the vehicle in need of emergency medical care. CPR was started. An adult female was discovered in the front passenger seat. She was also seriously injured. Two adult males were discovered lying in the roadway. One male was deceased from the collision. The other was seriously injured. Detectives are still determining how each person was involved in the collision.

Other than the deceased male, the other injured parties were transported to local hospitals. The toddler later succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital.

112th Street SE was closed for about 4 hours while this collision was investigated, but has reopened. Detectives believe that speed was a factor in the collision. They are also investigating whether alcohol and drugs played a factor. The vehicle was impounded pending further investigation.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiners’ office will take custody of the bodies to determine cause and manner of death. Identities will be released once families are notified.
