Fatal collision in Everett

Traffic detectives are investigating a fatal collision on the 41st St Bridge over I-5.

At about 9:40 this morning, officers were dispatched to the 41st St Bridge over I-5 on the report of a collision. Arriving officers found that a vehicle had collided with a pole and the driver was deceased.

Traffic detectives responded to investigate and determined the vehicle had been travelling southbound on I-5 and took the 41st St exit. At the intersection, the vehicle did not stop and drove over a raised median where it struck a WSDOT sign before crossing five lanes of travel and hit the base of a cement crosswalk pole. Detectives believe speed was a factor.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of the body to determine cause and manner of death as well as identification. Everett Fire assisted the Medical Examiner’s Office.

No other injuries or collisions were reported.

The northbound exit and southbound entrance ramps at 41st St and I-5 were closed temporarily for the investigation. All lanes of travel are open at this time.
