A Common Cause at the Washington State GOP Convention     Print Snohomish Times
Washington Republicans brought their energy and their ideas to the state convention in Spokane. I applaud all of the delegates who attended the convention for coming and standing up for their candidates. It was a weekend of energetic debate, close votes and sorting out of differences.

However, there was one single theme that unified the convention: Republicans in Washington are ready to win the governors race this year.

Ive traveled to 32 different Lincoln Day Dinners since January, and Ive seen the excitement thats been building among the grass roots for this race. Folks are tired of out-of-control spending at a level of $4,000 per family in Washington and not seeing results. They dont want a governor who looks to tax increases as the first and easiest option. They want a governor who does what he says he will do, and provides real results.

Of course, our race is not just about Republicans; Democrats and Independents who want to fix our state have joined us as well. But after the state convention this weekend, Ive heard citizens voices loud and clear. Theyre ready for a change in Olympia.
