Snohomish News Story Taxpayers always suspect the government is wasting money. Now, the Washington Policy Center has published its "piglet" book, claiming to identify some easy cuts. But just how easy is it to trim state government? With Washington state facing a $2.4 billion shortfall, we took a half-dozen examples from the book and asked people for explanations. In the end, Dunshee questions whether cutting these projects identified by the Washington Policy Center, would add up to any significant savings. Guppy says it's a starting point and state government needs to do a better job setting priorities. The debate is particularly timely, as Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi says these are the kind of cuts that can balance the budget.
