AMAZON New Fulfillment Center in Arlington

Amazon today announced plans to open a new fulfillment center at 4620 172nd Street NE in the City of Arlington, Washington. The new fulfillment center is slated to open later this year with more than 1,000 full-time employees who will help pick, pack, and ship customer orders to communities across Snohomish County, Washington State, and beyond, and receive a starting wage of $15 an hour or more and comprehensive benefits that begin on day one. Amazon currently employs more than 80,000 employees throughout the State of Washington.

"We're excited to open a new, state-of-the-art fulfillment center in the City of Arlington,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon's Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment. “Arlington and surrounding communities in Snohomish County offer a talented workforce, and we look forward to growing employment beyond the more than 80,000 employees already serving customers in the region."
“The City of Arlington welcomes this new Amazon facility to our diverse and growing business community in the Cascade Industrial Center,” said Arlington Mayor, Barbara Tolbert. “Amazon brings great jobs with great pay and benefits as well as opportunities for longer-term careers. This will help working families across our region.”
Employees at the over 600,000 square-foot facility will play an integral role in fulfilling customer items such as household goods, books, toys, and technology.

“This is great news for Amazon and for Snohomish County,” said Snohomish County Executive, Dave Somers. “As we look toward rebuilding our economy from the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon’s decision to bring this significant operation to the Cascade Industrial Center will be a boost for our community, workers, and businesses. We look forward to working with Amazon as they expand in business-friendly Snohomish County.”

“Amazon’s commitment to Snohomish County is a significant catalyst in strengthening the resilience of our local economy, particularly during these unprecedented times,” said Snohomish County Councilmember, Nate Nehring. “I want to thank Amazon for this significant investment in our region, as they recognize the high-quality workforce and business-friendly environment that Snohomish County provides.”

A job at Amazon can be a springboard to an Amazon career or other opportunities. In 2020, Amazon promoted more than 35,000 employees in its operations network and continues to invest in the long-term career success of employees inside and outside of the company.

“Later this year, we will begin hiring for a wide range of roles, everything from receiving and stowing inventory to shipping customer orders and supporting network logistics,” added Boler Davis. “Amazon offers opportunities for professional development and encourages current employees as well as interested candidates to consider building a longer-term career with us.”
Investing in employees at Amazon Operations
On top of Amazon’s national starting wage of $15 per hour, the company offers full-time employees comprehensive benefits including full medical, vision, and dental insurance as well as a 401(k) with 50 percent match starting on day one. Amazon also offers up to 20 weeks of maternal and parental paid leave and innovative benefits such as Leave Share and Ramp Back, which give new parents flexibility to support their growing families.
Employees also have access to Amazon’s innovative Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses in high-demand fields like game design, nursing, IT programming, and more. Career Choice is available to all Amazon hourly associates in the U.S. who have been employed at the company for one continuous year. For some of the latest news on Career Choice, see this blog post.
In 2019, Amazon committed $700 million to providing 100,000 employees with access to upskilling programs through 2025. Amazon was recently ranked #2 on the Forbes World’s Best Employers list.
Investing in communities where employees live and work
Amazon's fulfillment network supports businesses of all sizes worldwide through its Fulfillment by Amazon offering, and many of those local organizations are based right here in Washington State. More than 48,000 small and medium-sized businesses and independent authors in Washington are growing their businesses with Amazon. In 2010-2019, Amazon invested more than $98 billion in Washington State, including infrastructure and compensation to our employees. As a result of Amazon’s investments in Washington, more than $87.7 billion has been added into the state GDP.

Amazon has created more than 80,000 jobs in Washington State. While the company is not yet hiring for the new Arlington location, Amazon continues to hire new full-time and part-time associates across the Puget Sound area. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit amazon.com/apply to learn more and to sign up for text alerts to be notified when new jobs post by texting SEANOW to 77088.

Job candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered. All interested candidates need to apply online where they can indicate a shift preference and select an appointment time to attend an upcoming hiring event and orientation. Shift schedules will vary. Veterans and military spouses are encouraged to apply.
