The top young problem solvers in the state gathered in Stanwood last week to evaluate real-world challenges and use critical thinking skills to identify and develop realistic solutions to future problems.

Individuals and teams were graded by trained volunteers and the top winners will get to represent Washington at the Future Problem Solving International Conference at Iowa State University June 11-14.

The Future Problem Solving program is an international problem¬ solving competition that equips today’s young people with the vision and skills needed to anticipate, understand and solve the problems of tomorrow.

Students in grades 4 through 12 competed in the Washington Future Problem Solving State Bowl at Warm Beach Camp in Stanwood April 15-17. There were three levels of competition: Junior (grades 4-6), Intermediate (grades 7-9) and Senior (grades 10-12)
