WIAA Set to Release Regional Draws
RENTON, Wash. (January 29, 2015) - The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's (WIAA) Executive Board announced that the 2015 girls and boys basketball regional draws will be released after the completion of all nine districts' qualifying contests.
After receiving input by each of the WIAA district directors, the Executive Board determined the best action was to release the draws after the district contests are complete. The process to assign the teams to the regional sites, dates and times will be held on February 22.
The approved list of regional basketball sites can be found at the bottom of the release. Depending on the teams that qualify, some approved sites may not be selected to host a regional game, while some sites may host as many as six games.
The process to determine regional basketball sites and times for the regional contests will remain the same as last year. The top priority in the site selection process is to ensure a team does not play on its home court. The next priorities are minimizing travel for true number one seeds, and back-to-back games scheduled at the same facility for schools that qualify a boys and girls teams when possible.
The regional games will determine the top eight teams in each classification and each gender that will advance to the 2015 Hardwood Classic, March 5-7.
