530 Slide is private property
Following several complaints and concerns by the community, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that the area affected by the 530 Slide is private property and walking onto the site is considered trespassing.
In addition, the unauthorized removal of items from the area is considered theft.
Recovery and clean-up efforts are still underway, so personnel operating equipment or providing security have permission from property owners to be in the area. Drivers on SR 530 in the slide area are asked to not stop on the highway nor leave the roadway. Anyone who witnesses illegal activity in the slide area, including trespassing or theft, should call 911 immediately.
