All 36 Mudslide Victims Identified

There are now 36 confirmed victims of the mudslide, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. Thirty-six of those victims have been identified. Seven people are still missing according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

*Updated information* Washington Team 3 is in place and has assumed command of the incident today. The team will continue to focus on search and recovery operations with safety as a high priority. There are currently 732 personnel assigned to the incident.

*Updated information* At the close of business on April 10, FEMA reported that 412 Snohomish County residents had registered for assistance and more than $200,000 in Individual Housing Assistance has been dispersed to assist in recovery efforts , that's an average of $485 per person.

Governor Inslee requested Individual Assistance and Public Assistance for Snohomish County and the three Tribal Governments (Sauk-Suiattle, Stillaguamish, and Tulalip). President Obama signed a major disaster declaration on April 2 to include Individual Assistance and Public Assistance.

There are two funerals or memorial services scheduled for this weekend. We continue to ask that media respect the families. These services are private and closed to all but invited media.
The Army Corps of Engineers continues construction of a temporary berm to reduce flood impacts in the slide area.

Three FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are open to assist residents who have been affected by the SR530 mudslide. Locations and hours of operation:

• Oso Fire Station (Snohomish County Fire Protection District 25 - parking lot), 21824 State Route 530 NE, Arlington, WA 98223

• Arlington Public Works Administration-Stillaguamish Conference Room, 154 West Cox Ave., Arlington, WA 98223

• Darrington Ranger District Office (Parking Lot), 1405 Emens Ave. North, Darrington, WA 98241
The Disaster Recovery Centers will be open Monday through Friday from 11am to 8pm, Saturday from 11am to 4pm, and closed on Sunday.

In addition to registering with FEMA, individuals and families needing assistance can call North Sound 211. Individuals with (425) and (360) area codes can simply dial 211 24 hours a day. Individuals with other area codes can reach North Sound 211 by calling 1 (800) 223-8145. Referral Specialists will assist callers in filling basic and immediate needs such as gasoline, housing, and food.

At this time, cash is the most effective means of showing support. Cash donations allow nonprofit organizations to purchase what disaster survivors need. Buying from local businesses helps the economy recover. Donations of used clothing, miscellaneous household items and mixed or perishable food are being discouraged at this time. Such donations may not meet disaster survivor needs, must be sorted, packaged, transported, warehoused and distributed which divert resources away from providing services.
