Funding opportunities for artists

Thursday, April 02, 2009

With all the new changes here in Washington, DC, the NMAI is also changing its programs to improve services and programs for Indigenous and Native Hawaiian artists! Since 1996, the NMAI has offered what has been known as the Native Arts Program (NAP) which has served 72 indigenous artists from the Americas and Hawaii and this program has now evolved to become the Artist Leadership Program (ALP) and Emerging Artist Program (EAP). The attached Press Release provides a brief description of these two new programs, or you may access the programs directly through the website http://nmai.si.edu//icap/leadership.html

I would also like to ask that you encourage one or two other Indigenous and Native Hawaiian artists to apply to ALP and EAP. The application deadline is soon, April 6th, so dont delay. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My email address is lewisk@si.edu and my telephone number is (301) 238-1544. Please feel free to distribute to your contact lists.
Many thanks and keep up the good work!
