Lake Stevens, WA- The community is invited to join the Lake Stevens Parks and Recreation Department for a groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated West Lake Park and Bayview Trail. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at 8629 20th Street SE in Lake Stevens.

The West Lake Park and Bayview Trail project has been in the works for several years and is finally coming to fruition. This new addition to our city's parks system will provide residents with a beautiful green space to enjoy nature, as well as a safe and scenic trail for walking, jogging, and biking.

"We are thrilled to break ground on this exciting project," said Sarah Garceau, Parks and Recreation Director. "The West Lake Park and Bayview Trail will be a wonderful addition to our community, providing residents with a place to relax, exercise, and recreate."

The groundbreaking ceremony will include remarks from city officials, as well as a ceremonial shovel dig to mark the beginning of construction. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view renderings of the park and trail design.

"We are grateful for the support from our community in bringing this project to life," added Brett Gailey, Mayor. "We look forward to seeing residents enjoying this new outdoor space once it is completed."

The West Lake Park and Bayview Trail project is made possible through funding from the city's pandemic recovery, park mitigation, and real estate excise tax revenues. The first phase of the Bayview Trail construction started July 29, 2024, with an estimated end day in November 2024, this also includes the construction of the parking lot, benches, and dog park at West Lake Park.
