Lane, traffic signals added on SR 524 at Yew Way

MALTBY – New traffic signals will turn on at the Yew Way-Maltby Road intersection on State Route 524, just west of SR 522 near Woodinville, early Wednesday, Sept. 9.


Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation recently added a lane on the northbound Yew Way portion of SR 524, creating a through lane in addition to a left turn lane where Yew Way intersects with Maltby Road. They also added the traffic signals for the three-way intersection.

The new lane allows unimpeded access for traffic continuing north on Yew Way. Until now, through traffic northbound on Yew Way would have to wait for people turning left onto Maltby Road, which could cause backups toward SR 522 during afternoon commutes and other times.

Railroad crossing work continues

Snohomish County has a separate project near the intersection to improve the railroad crossing, including adding a safety crossing gate.

This work could require single lane closures. It will continue through October.
