Firefighters fight early morning blaze

[Lake Stevens, WA] – At 3:59 AM Lake Stevens Fire was dispatched to a report of a residential fire at the 4300
block of 99th Avenue NE. Crews arrived to find two 50’ x 120’ barns fully engulfed in flames.


The structures were located down a long driveway with the nearest fire hydrant three quarters of a mile away.
Firefighters had to use approximately 3,000 feet of hose linked to a series of water tenders and fire engines to
get water to the fire.


Firefighters from Lake Stevens Fire, Getchell Fire District 22, Granite Falls Fire District 17, Snohomish Fire District
4, Marysville Fire, and Tulalip Fire Department fought the blaze for 2 ½ hours before being able to fully
extinguish the flames. Crews were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to additional nearby structures.


Both barns were used as storage facilities. No animals or civilians have been reported injured. Multiple vehicles
and equipment were damaged in the fire. Both structures were completely destroyed.


The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire and will determine the amount of
property lost.
