STSPN 4A Preseason Power Top 20 Rankings

We spent some time at last nights Lake Stevens Jamboree causing us to move them up a few ticks but overall we feel comfortable with our preseason choices.

Lets all keep in mind that these picks are before any live snaps of the regular season. The picture will start to focus in week one after we see what products the coaches are serving up for real.

Seattle Times Top Ten Here

  1. Gonzaga Prep (Spokane) 14-0.
After winning it all last year expect that experience to translate well to the returners.
  2. Skyline (Sammamish) 12-2.
Second place was a hard pill to swallow and the Spartans will never settle for anything but their best. Expect them to reload and be in the hunt for a state title.
  3. Sumner 10-1.
Narrowly defeated in last year’s 3A first round expect big things from a team that is bringing back most of its players.
  4. Camas 11-1.
What can we say about the Papermakers except that they are never far from making a big play? Expect great things from this talented squad!
  5. Richland 11-2.
With a trip to the semis under their belt, expect more of the same this year.
  6. Graham-Kapowsin (Graham) 11-1
A veteran line and a talented back field will keep these guys in contention for a state playoff berth.
  7. Skyview (Vancouver) 8-3.
After hearing the words “Better off next year” ringing through their ears from last year’s quick exit from the playoffs, well, its next year and they are ready.
  8. Central Valley (Spokane) 8-3.
The bears find themselves in a strategic position with a talented, veteran stacked roster.
  9. Battle Ground 8-3.
After an early exit from the last year’s playoffs and losing a few key players, the Tigers squeak into the top 10 because their new crew has many hidden gems.
  10. Lake Stevens 12-1.
STSPN’s sleeper pick! Although Jacob Eason is gone his replacement Conor Bardue will surprise many unsuspecting opponents. He is big and he can throw AND he can run!
  11. Kentwood 7-3.
Don’t let 7-3 fool you! These guys are legit! Don’t look past Mike Bush’s offense or you will be watching instead of playing.
  12. Glacier Peak (Snohomish) 10-2.
Making the jump to 4A won’t change their ability to reload, returning defensive lineman Jacob Elvig, DJ Keenan and Maliki Fifita will cause headaches for offensive coordinators. Returning QB Ayden Ziomas Baby 'Z' and Senior Colton 'Bye Bye' Bunt remain a dangerous threat on offense.
  13. Kennedy Catholic (Burien) 9-1.
Another quality team making the jump to 4A! These guys always put a talented group on the field so look for them to continue to excel.
  14. Moses Lake 9-3.
After several very close games that could’ve gone either way in last year’s state playoffs, look for some minor adjustments that will put them right back in mix.
  15. Bothell 5-4.
QB Jacob Sirmon is nationally ranked and will bring the Cougars better results than last year. A big offensive line will help protect Sirmon and open up some running lanes.
  16. Woodinville 7-5.
Bringing back several veteran players will make this year’s squad stronger and better prepared for a late season push into the playoffs
  17. Auburn Mountainview 8-3.
Although they were stopped short by the reigning state 3A champion, expect this team to explode onto the scene in 2016 4A play.
  18. Monroe 7-3.
They were one of WESCO’s sleeper picks for last year’s playoff run but had their dream season cut short. Look for them to return with a vengeance including RB Jacob ‘JJ’ Jerome, QB Zach Zimmerman and a host of returning starters.
  19. Issaquah 7-4
Underrated and overlooked! These guys have the makings of something great! If they can gel, they will be in the mix at the end.
  20. Mount Si 7-4.
Squeaking in as our last pick because their new crew has many underrated talents. Plus, it’s Mount Si, what more needs to be said
