Deputies endorse Huxford over former boss

Yesterday the Snohomish County Deputy Sheriff's Association rejected their former boss and instead endorsed Janice Huxford for State Representative in the 44th District.

Lovick was widely expected to have the edge in these endorsements because of his experience in law enforcement and as the County Sherriff. But in a decision that the Huxford campaign said “speaks volumes,” the rank and file officers from the agency he recently oversaw just endorsed Huxford over their former Sheriff.

This rejection from the officers that worked with him and know him best follows closely on the heels of last November's loss to a fellow Democrat in the County Executive race, where he was criticized for mismanaging the finances and priorities of County government.

Huxford has been endorsed by the Everett Police Officers Association, the Lake Stevens Police Guild, the Snohomish Deputy Sheriff's Association, and the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs (WACOPS), which represents 4,500 law enforcement officers across the state.

"This vote of confidence from the members of our local police agencies is an honor," said Huxford.

The Everett Police Officers Association said in their letter of endorsement that Huxford has "established a positive reputation through your community involvement and active participation in local government."

The Everett Police also praised Huxford's commitment to public safety, and her commitment to fiscal stability.
Janice Huxford is a local small business owner, volunteers on the Lake Stevens Planning Commission, serves on the Aquafest Board and is a Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
