Monroe, Wash. – EvergreenHealth Monroe recently added all new wireless heart rate and vital signs monitoring units that give providers instantaneous access to patient information from anywhere in the hospital.

The Mindray BeneVision Central Monitoring System optimizes clinical productivity by giving providers the ability to monitor patient information and assess important vital signs while clinicians are away from central nursing posts. This is made possible through additional view station monitors placed throughout the hospital and smartphone-accessible mobile applications.

“This enhancement is a direct reflection of our commitment to enriching patient care in East Snohomish County,” said Eric Jensen, chief administrative officer at EvergreenHealth Monroe. “Since adopting this new heart monitor system, we’ve seen how the technology improves the ability of our providers to collaborate on patient care and deliver even safer, individualized attention for each person in our care.”

With the innovative BeneVision cardiac monitor system, EvergreenHealth Monroe providers can also monitor patients’ carbon dioxide (CO2) levels when needed. Carbon dioxide monitoring is now a part of the U.S. standards of care for all patients receiving general anesthesia, and an emerging standard of care for emergency medical services, emergency medicine (ER) and intensive care.

These CO2 monitoring capabilities also help EvergreenHealth Monroe providers monitor key physiologic functions that must be assessed in both intubated and naturally breathing patients.

“The new technology helps us monitor patients in the critical stages of intubation and spontaneous breathing trials in order to determine if CO2 is being transported effectively throughout their vascular system,” said Tammy Chapman, EvergreenHealth Monroe emergency, respiratory therapy and cardiovascular services manager. “With the help of this technology, we are able to gauge and monitor the effectiveness of our prognoses and detect any irregularities in vital signs as quickly as possible, allowing our providers to act quickly when a patient is in need of urgent care.”

In addition to the new heart monitors, EvergreenHealth Monroe is also making additional significant investments in 2016. The hospital is investing in new computed tomography (CT) scan technology and equipment, pulmonary function testing tools, anesthesiology machines, orthopedic drills and saws, and stretchers and scopes – all of which will be introduced and implemented throughout the year to offer patients in East Snohomish County access to the most advanced care and health care resources.
