Bike Month A Success

Snohomish County, Wash. – In May, Community Transit partnered with Cascade Bicycle Club and Washington Bikes to bring the Bike Everywhere Challenge and Bike Everywhere Day to Snohomish County.

During May, 849 Snohomish County residents participated in the Bike Month Challenge and together took 15,043 bicycle trips, prevented 132,839 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution and traveled 150,953 miles.

On Friday, May 20, Bike Everywhere Day encouraged local residents to jump on their bikes and celebrate all types of bicycling, including recreational riding, commuting to work and biking for everyday transportation. Community Transit sponsored Celebration Stations at Lynnwood Transit Center, Beverly Park and Boeing Everett for a riding break, refreshments and a free bicycle tune-up. An impressive 280 people made it out to these three stations alone, as well as contributing to a combined total of 506 participants at stations throughout Snohomish County.

Community Transit buses also saw an impressive hike in bicycle boardings during the month of May with 17,372 for the month; up by more than 500 in compared to April. Community Transit encourages people to incorporate bikes and buses for their daily trips all year long. People can learn more about bikes and buses, including instructional videos on how to load a bike on a bus, bike lockers and a Snohomish County Bike Map at www.communitytransit.org/bikes.
