YMCA SUMMER CAMP

Spring has sprung and summer is following closely behind. That means it’s time to start thinking about what you’ll do with the kids this summer. Open registration for YMCA of Snohomish County Summer Camp begins March 25. Camps are offered through all five YMCA family branches: Everett, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, and Mukilteo as well as in the Stanwood-Camano community.

Summer is a time to discover new adventures and new friends, and campers at YMCA day and overnight camps have had fun – and developed good values – since 1901. When at camp, kids are given new responsibilities and they learn independence. As a result, they become more confident and open to trying new things, and they grow as individuals and as part of a group.

As a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y works to help children and teens discover their full potential by providing opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive while supervised by caring, supportive adults.
For campers, Y camp is a fun way to enjoy the summer. For parents, it’s a way to give their children a positive developmental experience. And for parents who work outside of the home, Y camp provides a safe, fun alternative to regular child care.
A wide range of summer programs are available for campers ranging in age from preschool through high school.

? Preschool/Kindergarten camp focuses on educational enrichment and social skills.

? The YMCA offers full-day licensed enrichment programming and care for school-age children during summer months. Activities include crafts, games, sports, swimming, and weekly field trips.

? A variety of mini camps provide younger campers with social interaction, hands-on activities, exploration and fun.

? Sky-Y camp provides campers an outdoor day camp experience held at Hole in the Sky Park.

? The Y partners with experts to provide a number of exciting specialty camps: art, theatre, jump rope, cooking, science, and magic.

? Other specialty camps include horseback riding, skateboarding, and sports camps.
? Always a favorite, at Venture (formerly Teen Xtreme) camp teens will join friends and ride, slide, explore, and climb their way through summer.

? Xtreme Adventures overnight camping trips provide a week of fun with opportunities for hiking, river rafting, surfing, horseback riding, and outdoor camping.

Here are five reasons why your child or teen should experience summer camp:

1. FOR ADVENTURE: Summer camp is all about fun adventures. YMCA camps have a new adventure for every child and teen.

2. FOR NEW EXPERIENCES: Camp is about learning outside of school, exploring and appreciating the outdoors, developing new skills, making friends, and showing leadership.
3. FOR PERSONAL GROWTH: While at camp, youth have a chance to develop confidence and independence by taking on new responsibilities and challenges.
4. FOR NEW FRIENDSHIPS: Amidst the fun of camp games, songs, swimming, visiting new places, and talent shows, campers meet new friends.
5. FOR MEMORIES: Summer camp is an unforgettable experience that will give each camper memories that will last a lifetime.

Camp offerings vary by branch and prices vary by camp. For more information on YMCA of Snohomish County summer programs or to reserve your space online, please visit our web site at ymca-snoco.org/camp or contact your local YMCA family branch.
