HOP SCOTCH SPRING BEER & SCOTCH FESTIVAL

Three things ring true in Seattle: It rains, everyone is a member of the 12th man, and you are never far from good beer. Local breweries, as well as distilleries and food trucks, have exploded off of the local scene and into national prominence faster than it took Russell Wilson to win a Super Bowl. With a backyard full of winners, it is only fitting that the 13th annual Hop Scotch Spring Beer & Scotch Festival honor it’s Seattle roots and showcases the local flavors.

While the Seattle beer scene has been prominent since the early 90s, the last 10 years has established the city as a beer lover’s haven. New breweries continue to pop up faster than Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril get to the quarterback, making Seattle one of the country’s largest concentrations of breweries.
Riding off the success of local brewers, the last couple of years have seen the rise of local distilleries. Both breweries and distilleries use the abundance of quality in-state ingredients to create top of the line products. Hop Scotch, much like the Seahawks have done with Jermaine Kearse in the last two NFC Championship Games, use the accessibility of these local products to showcase the best of the Seattle brewing and distilling scenes in one room.

The newest local trend is also the fastest rising trend. Food trucks are making Seattle’s foodie identity available to the entire city. Just as Pete Carroll and John Schneider have assembled a team of vastly different personalities, Seattle Food Trucks continue to push the envelope as the combine seemingly un-cohesive ingredients to create some of the most unique flavors in the city. Hop Scotch is bringing one of Seattle’s most creative mobile kitchens. Lumpia World, to be the taste of the festival.
