Operation Backpack Deploy

Just in time for the holiday season, the AMHS ARK (Acts of Random Kindness) Movement is leading “Operation Backpack Deploy,” delivering gently used backpacks to the homeless. The school is also collecting much needed “luxury” items to fill the backpacks including toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, toilet paper etc.
“When we look at our brothers and sisters on the streets, we have to look deep into our own history and remember Mary and Joseph and even baby Jesus were homeless. When we reflect in our own hearts and remember this, we are called to help those living on the streets today,” says Deacon Dennis Kelly, Director of Campus Ministry.

While the collected goods will help those in need, the lesson learned at AMHS is just as valuable.
“Every time we come together in community to serve the least of our brothers and sisters, our students get the ministry of Jesus Christ.”

On December 22nd from 9am to noon, students, staff and faculty will gather in the gym to assemble all of the backpacks that have been donated.

The items will be delivered to St. Martin de Porres shelter in downtown Seattle later that day.
