Fatal, single motor vehicle collision

Marysville Police are investigating a fatal, single motor vehicle collision that occurred in the 14100 block of Smokey Point Boulevard in North Marysville. The roadway was reopened for traffic just after 8:00 a.m.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 12:20 a.m., this morning. Upon arrival officers observed an early 90’s, blue colored, Honda Civic had collided with a utility pole. The male driver, and only occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after police arrived. The identity of the victim is pending positive identification by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office and notification of family.

The Marysville Police Collision Investigation Team (CIT) is working to piece together the details of the collision, along with attempting to determine if other factors played a role.

During the initial investigation information was learned that the collision may be the result of two vehicles racing in the area just prior to the collision. “We are looking to talk with anyone who may have observed any racing or who has any other information to share that will assist us in determining the cause of this collision,” stated Commander Robb Lamoureux.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Bartl at 360.363.8350.
